Cousin Fun

Last week we got to have Rawley and Conrad over to play while their parents went to work. Sophie was ecstatic! They had so much fun playing the Wii together, legos, running around at the park, and watching a movie with individual bowls of popcorn...

I think they had a lot of fun. Although at dinner when Chad asked Rowley if we are the cool Aunt and Uncle he shook his head no.....haha wow didnt think I was going to get old and boring so quickly. Anyway Sophie and Lydia had a blast spending time with her cousins!

I also updated my decorations on my wreath for St Patricks Day!

May everyone have good luck this month !

Stress

Chad and I are both in school right now and for the next year or so. Well I will be in it much longer than Chad but that's what happens when you move at a snails pace. Anyway Chad is taking 4 classes while I take 3. Drop that on top of work, kids, and for my husband building a 1929 Woody Station Wagon for a June meet in Idaho. And it causes a little bit of stress.  Although building the car does make him escape his stress a bit.

Stress does funny things to people.....

The other day Chad came home from work and his hair looked pretty greasy and crusty. I asked him what was wrong with his hair and he replied. "Honey I'm pretty sure I didn't wash out my shampoo this morning." Sure enough that was the case.

Again stress does funny things to people...

Scripture Stories

We read scriptures every night before bed. Sophie always has to read her scripture story first. Her favorite story to tell is of Abinidai and King Noah or of Joseph Smith and finding the gold plates. The other night she told us a new story.

She told us that there were Nephites and Badites. (Instead of Lamanites) And the Badites did not listen to Heavenly Father.

Valentines Day

We had a good Valentines Day yesterday. My amazing husband wrote me a wonderful letter. Seriously I am one lucky girl :) The girls and I got him a cookie Valentine...

I thought it was so funny since he is working on the Woody Station Wagon.

I made heart shaped grilled cheese for the girls...

Then the girls helped me make some Valentine cupcakes with the cute wrappers Aunt Kimberly sent...

and we ended the evening with heart pizzas....

After the girls went to bed Chad and I headed to the garage and sanded trim for the Woody while listening to love songs. I guess he said yes to my "Wood you be mine?" Valentine. I know your all jealous on how romantic we are :)

Phoenix Children's Museum

On Saturday we headed to Phoenix with the girls. My wonderful cousin Amber watched the girls for us while we went to the Temple. They had a blast with her. Sophie is still telling me about her taking pictures of them, taking them to a yummy bakery for heart shaped cookies, and to play at the park. Sophie has informed me several times she is going to Amber's house.

after the Temple we took them to the Phoenix Children's museum. Seriously the coolest place ever!! It was kind of expensive but so worth it!! They had so much to do!

They had a fun machine that you put soft balls in and they fly through the tubes and shoot out at different places. This was definitely Lydia's favorite....

There was also a big one were you put in pieces of cloth and they shoot out the very top and float down so they can catch them...

There was a really cool fort room. They had several random things laying around to build your own fort....

There was a area for kids to ride bikes through a car wash....

They had an art room where you can do crafts and paint a rocket ship.....

And a noodle forest you can run through!!!

A mini grocery store to shop in....

Sophie had a ton of fun with the race track. The race cars were made out of old roller skates...

and they had a giant tree house to climb in. It was so big I really could not get a good picture of it.....

Chad did some impressive moves I hear getting out of it. I didn't see it unfortunately but I guess several parents were quite impressed. One of the exits looked like a big shelving that was completely caged in. You had to crawl to the other side and go down the hole to the next level and zig zag down like that. Now imagine that the kids have to crawl...now imagine and adult doing it. He was a little nervous he would get stuck. But he made it by going down the holes head first landing on his back and then rolling over and crawl again. All I have to say is thank goodness it wasnt me. I would not have been so graceful.

It was so fun and the girls had a blast. Needless to say they were quite exhausted by the end of the day.

Drawing Meltdown

Sophie loves to sit with me and color on Paint. She always asks me to draw her and her friends as Princesses.

I am definitely no artist but apparently Sophie thinks I am. Yesterday I was working and all of the sudden Sophie walks in absolutely hysterical. She showed me a picture she drew of her as a princess...

I was so impressed! I have never seen a drawing that she has done that isn't just scribbles everywhere. I said "Sophie! That is so good! Whats wrong?" She was so distraught that her drawing did not look like mine and she angrily threw it on the floor. After several minutes of me explaining to her that it really was great and if she would like we could hang it on the refrigerator. She did not like that answer at all and said "No Mom its not good! The dress isn't like my friends!"
I was so worried this little situation was going to ruin drawing for her. I realized that she is just like me! Oh dear. I was exactly the same way when I was younger. I would try and draw something and I just thought it looked horrible compared to my sisters. She really has a knack for artistic things. And now that I look back my drawings really were not that bad. Although you may say otherwise from looking at the picture at the top Haha. But consequently I just went on thinking I could not draw and never tried to improve. But I think we may be okay with Miss Sophie for now. She woke up this morning and happily colored the dress on her picture and proudly hung it on the fridge. Crisis averted...for now...

Catch Up

Sorry for the long absence. We are in the middle of school and work right now so consequently my blog suffers. We haven't done anything too terribly exciting around here. Mostly work, homework, and going out to Chad's parents house so Chad can work on his station wagon. But I was able to add new decorations to my wreath for Valentines Day...

Someday I will actually make a new wreath but whatever extra time I have is spent on homework at the moment so wreath making will just have to wait.

Sophie went to her cousin's pajama birthday party. She was so excited to go! She had the option to spend the night and I was a little nervous. I did not want to drive out to Sahuarta in the middle of the night for a meltdown. But what we found out was that she is quite the party animal (and we are in a lot of trouble when she gets older).

I guess she was great and did not complain at all. She really had a blast. I also learned she stayed up until 1:30 in the morning. Apparently she was the last to fall asleep. Lydia did great without her sister as well. I was pretty nervous about that too. Come to find out she loved all the attention on her. But she was so excited to see her sister the next day...

We went to the zoo with a majority of her cousins which was a lot of fun. Although by that point lack of sleep had finally hit Sophie and she was pretty cranky.

We did get to see the baby lions again. They have gotten pretty big. I guess it was lunch time for them when we got there...

One of the kids asked what they were doing and Becca responded "Their eating their mom. Sucking the life right out of her." ha ha . No worries we did explain to the kids. She is nursing right now and I agree sometimes it does feel that way.

Bow-Tique!

So it has been 6 months since I made a hanging for all of the girl's bows and I finally decided on what to put on the board! Sophie and Lydia like to watch Mickey Mouse and they have a short about Minnie's Bow-Tique where she makes hair bows for her friends. So I thought it would be perfect for their hair bow hanging!

Painting Nails

My girls make me tear up almost everyday they are just so sweet together. They get so excited to see each other when they wake up that they have to hug. When Sophie comes into the library after sunbeams Lydia gets all excited and runs to her with her arms open. And Sophie says "Aw sister!!"

Yesterday was another one of those moments. Sophie was playing with her Tinkerbell play makeup and said "Lydia would you like me to paint your toes?" And Lydia shook her head yes and plopped down in front of her and held up her foot.

I just love that they like to play together.

And I finally got video of Lydia talking so I thought I would share...
