Christmas!

Be prepared for a long post. Chad has been off work this whole week and I haven't been on the computer much.

Christmas was so much fun! On Christmas eve when Chad got off work we went and got slushies. (I know weird but it was actually pretty warm that day). And then we randomly drove around. We ended up at the San Xavier Mission. Which was pretty fun to walk around....

On the way out there was a graveyard that was kind of creepy because all of the dirt was in mounds. I am not sure why they did it that way.

We headed to Brad and Becca's for a fun filled Christmas Eve party! I made some eggnog cookies for dessert.

These were really yummy. I found the recipe here.
We played minute to win it games which was fun and hilarious! I will have to get the videos from my brother. Sophie loved it. she had a tissue box tied to her bum that had 8 balls in it and she had to dance to get all of the balls out in one minute. She really enjoyed shaking her booty.

Then we got a surprise knock on the door....and Santa had dropped off a bag of goodies for everyone...

He even filled out the tracking tags for us. Just thought I would share mine...
I'm not trying to brag...really I just thought it was funny. Sophie got a cute mini baking set. Which she has already made a mini cake and pumpkin pie. I will post those later. Lydia got a fun new music toy, Chad got doodle dice, and I got got a brand new glass pitcher! I was excited because the one I really liked broke and it ended up being the same one! Thank you Mom!!...I mean Santa!
We had so much fun and even did fireworks in the backyard. It was pretty late so we headed home and set out cookies and milk for santa. Sophie needed some help getting up in the morning..

We went out and saw that Santa had enjoyed our treat...
The girls were excited about their presents from Santa....

It was fun watching them open their presents. They both really got into it.

Chad got some tools for his future 1929 Station Wagon...
And I got some cute new clothes from my wonderful husband!

Then we got ready for church and enjoyed dinner at my parents. It was a fun Christmas and Sophie is already asking how many more times she has to go to bed before Christmas comes again.

Winter Haven

Wednesday night we went to winter haven with Grandma and Grandpa Clayton. They brought Sam and Dallin and Sophie was pretty excited.
they all rode in the wagon together and had a blast...

After awhile Lydia got the Princess treatment and was nice and cozy...

We enjoyed donuts and hot chocolate...

And Sophie and Dallin enjoyed holding hands most of the night...I think we are in trouble....

One of the houses had a really cool wishing tree.

Lydia loved all of the lights. And really enjoyed walking around.

And of course we had to find the best house there! They timed their Christmas lights and water to several Christmas songs. Here are a couple of little videos for you....

Ben's Bells

For our Christmas service project this year we decided to go and help paint beads at Ben's Bells. Sophie has been working hard to earn money to donate. She has helped fold clothes, clean out the dishwasher, mop the floor, and other things. Every time she helped she got to put a dollar in a jar. She was so excited to put the money she had earned in the donation box. She also loved painting the little flower beads..

Lydia liked to watch and really wanted to eat the paint.
They loved getting to play around the fountain too.

Mini Vacation at the Zoo

On Saturday after I went to the temple we headed to the Phoenix Zoo. We were really excited until Chad found out that his wife that cant think properly forgot to bring the stroller...oops.  Chad would see a mom pushing her kid in a stroller and say "Look honey that could have been us happily pushing our children in our stroller."  But the girls were awesome! And they walked most of the Zoo so it wasn't bad at all. But next time I definitely wont forget it.

First we saw the Orangutans the girls really liked them and they were fun to watch.

Sophie was our guide. She carried the map everywhere and anytime we moved five feet to see and animal she would pull out the map and say "where are we?"
We went to monkey village and got to go in and walk around the Squirrel Monkeys. They were so cute. Lydia would get all excited and point at it and say "DOG !!!"
Apparently all animals are dogs right now and they say moo.

She also wanted to climb in and play with all of the animals....

They also liked the Baboons. They were right up against the window trying to get warm in the sun...
If your wondering about the one on the floor in the background...um.... yeah we were too...

We thought for sure it was dead. But he did blink so apparently he is just bored?

They had a tree house to climb up and look at the giraffes..

Chad and Sophie were watching the Mountain Lions. They were sleeping when I showed them to Lydia and she decided that pine needles were far more interesting....

But then Chad and Sophie said "roar" to the mountain lions and one of them had to climb down and check them out. Lyds and I totally missed it.

It was such a fun weekend and even better the girls slept all the way home and played happily the rest of the night!

Mini Vacation

This last weekend we decided to take a mini vacation to Mesa and take the girls to see the Christmas lights at the temple. Sophie was very excited and kept telling me when she gets older she is going to go to the temple in a pretty dress and get married.

Sorry in advance for the hard to see pictures. I didn't realize until the end of the night that my flash was not on :(

Lydia was completely fascinated by all of the lights and I could not get her to face me for any pictures.

Chad went in to the temple and I took the girls around and into the visitors center. I wanted to go see the nativities from around the world but these two girls just did not want to do anything but look at.....

Which was perfectly fine with me. It was so cute to see how excited they both were and we listened to the presentation a couple of times. It was a great night. Sophie loved that she got to go and see the temple.

"Look Mom the Temple!!"
The next day we took them to the Phoenix Zoo. I will post about that tomorrow!
