It has begun....

School has officially begun again and I am in denial. It was rough summer with a lot of work and very little of seeing my husband. We got a three week break and it has been awesome. Chad would come home from work and we do what we want as a family with no worries.

Sophie especially has enjoyed the little break. She has gotten quite attached to Chad. She loves playing with him. I was trying to prepare her for this semester and explaining she wouldn't get to play as much with daddy.

"But why mom?"
"Because daddy is in school and taking a lot of classes."
"Why?'
"So daddy can be a teacher."
"Why?"
"Because that is what daddy wants to do."
"But why does he have to go to school?"
"Because you cant be a teacher without going to school first."
"why?"

I will save you the rest. It went on for awhile. I know she is just curious and trying to learn, but the whole asking "why" a million times really tries my patience. I don't know why!

Lydia is pretty upset too...
Ok not really since us going to school doesn't effect her top priorities: Food, sleep, and more food. She is pretty much a go with the flow girl as long as those are not compromised.

Last night was the first reality check. Chad came home said hi and then went straight to the office to do homework. I think I saw him a whole 20 minutes yesterday...Here we go again!

Gas Station Hang Out

Last Friday we were headed to Preschool Open Gym and I needed to get gas. Sophie was so excited to go because she was sick last week. I filled up the car and started it but then I couldn't get it out of park. I couldn't even get the button the press. I tried several times. Turned on and off the car, jiggled the steering wheel, jiggled the shifter, begged it to work, and then asked really nicely to please just get me out of park. Nothing. So I called my dad and tried his suggestions...nothing.   Called my father in law and tried his suggestions...nothing. Called Chad "aah!!! I'm stuck at a gas station!" One lady at his work said there was a button that would release it. But it had a cap on it and I couldn't get it off. We went into the gas station and asked for a screw driver. I took the button out of the shifter and attempted to figure out what was wrong. I had no idea.

Sophie was saying "Mom lets go to the gym mom!"
"I can't get the car to go Sophie."
"But we got gas mom. Lets just go!"
"I wish we could Sophie"

Chad came and tried the secret button and couldn't get it so we decided to call a tow truck. By then the girls and I had been there for over an hour. I call and they say they will be there in 45 minutes...Awesome. So we hung out at the gas station...Its the cool place to hang you know...

The tow truck came and the guy asked what was wrong. And then replied "Oh I can fix that" He jumped in the car pushed the secret button and magically it came out of park. So just FYI if your shifter ever gets stuck in park in an automatic there is a small button next to it. Take off the cap and push straight down with a key (its a small hole) hold it down and then move the shifter out of park. Hopefully I have saved someone from having to hang out at the gas station for 2 hours.

Yarn Wreath

My sister had this awesome idea to make yarn wreaths. They are really easy to make. Just buy a straw or Styrofoam wreath wrap it in yarn, decorate, and your done! We want to make them for every holiday. So last week we did our first one. It took us a lot longer than we thought. We didn't realize how long it would take to wrap the wreath in yarn. Seriously it took hours. Sarah did a Notre Dame one and I did a.....

Boise State one of course! Only 11 more days till game day! Go BSU!

Imagination

Sophie has quite the little imagination. She is always running away from monsters, rescuing animals, and talking to her cousin Kaylie on the phone. The other day she was talking on her play cellphone to Oma and telling her everything she was doing. Then she started talking to Grandpa. She started laughing so I asked her who she was talking to.
 Sophie: "Granpa Meel-lllerrrrs"
Me "Oh and what did he say?"
Sophie: "He called me a stinker hehe"
Yesterday we were playing dress up (one of her favorite activities) and she told me "Mom I'm going to a dance party! You stay here."

Apparently I was not suitable enough to leave the house. She was probably right...

Getting Organized

We have been wanting to buy rotating racks for our canned food for a long time now. But they are just so expensive. One day we decided we didn't care and we were going to get them anyway. But when we when to Costco they didn't have any. We went to Craig and Jeanette's a few weeks ago and Jeanette showed us these awesome rotating racks that she made out of cardboard! So cool!
Chad got some boxes from work and we went to town making these things. (Ok so chad did I was just the hot glue gun assistant). Here is the link to make these awesome organizers: make your own can rotating rack.
We have a few more to make but already our pantry is so much nicer without cans falling everywhere! And the best part is these only cost us $6! And that was only because we had to buy a hot glue gun and glue sticks. Not a bad deal!

Just a Matter of Time

This little Goobers is seriously going to take off and run sometime soon. When she pulls herself up to things she gets brave and tries to let go. She loves Sophie's little baby stroller and has started walking with it. She gets so excited and loves to do anything her sister does. On Sunday she will officially be 8 months old. So crazy.

Ayden's New Pet

My mom and I went over to watch Ayden and baby Zack for a little bit so Becca could take Sierra to meet her new teacher. It was so much fun and Sophie loves playing with her cousins! My nephew Ayden is hilarious. They were all playing when he found a rope....
"Now Lydia be a good doggie and do what I say" (he didn't actually say that but it looks like it haha)

He was very quiet and led her around the room...

But Lydia has a mind of her own and wasn't being a good doggie.

Entertainment

My girls entertain me a lot. especially recently. They are just so funny.

Sophie sings pretty much all the time. Her favorite is princess songs. It used to be "Mommy sing to me Mommy! Will you sing me a princess song?" Now she is starting to want to sing them herself. She actually knows quite a few of the words. Her favorite is Tangled songs.....

Translation:
"I've got a dream! I've got a dream! I just want to see the floating lanterns gleam! and with every passing hour I'm so glad I left my tower! Like all you lovely folks I've got a dream!"

Lydia was being a bum the other day she just cried ALL day. So what did I do? I vacuumed. I know it sounds weird but she likes the vacuum...and it worked!! Somehow she was magically cured of her crazy crying bug. Needless to say I vacuumed a lot that day.

Projects

We have gotten a couple projects done recently. I am tired of digging in a box for bows for the girls everyday to I decided to make this...

I am really excited about it!! I thought I was going to have plenty of room but as I was emptying their box more bows kept appearing. I didn't realize how many bows we had! Sophie loves it she gets so excited to pick which one she wants to wear. I still need to put a quote or something on the board I haven't decided yet...

Here is our blinds! I am so excited now you can actually see the cute valance my mom and I made!

My awesome brother gave us their old kitchen table so I could have a bigger desk in my office! My wonderful husband and father in law did their magic and added a keyboard pullout to it. We also hired a professional painter...

And it turned out great!

I used to be crammed in the corner. And after over 2 and a half years staring at the corner of the room I now can look at a whole wall! I know I am moving up in the world!

Goobers

Lydia has officially changed her name to Goobers...well at least in the eyes of Sophie.
She never calls her by her real name anymore. It kind of fits her though. Its cute now but I am sure Lydia is going to hate it when she is older.

Tuesday night at dinner we had Hawaiian Haystacks. Lydia was loving the rice, but she would get frustrated because she was having a hard time getting it to her mouth. The solution.....

Have you been watching Tootles Miss Goobers?

Who needs Toys?

Who needs toys when you have.......cardboard boxes!!!

If your wondering yes she is eating...she is ALWAYS eating

We finally ordered blinds for our's and the girl's bedrooms. We have had blankets hanging up for over 3 years haha. We got a great deal! They were half off online with free shipping! The ones we like are kind of expensive since they are the wood ones so when we moved in we just got them for the important windows that everyone would see. It is so nice not to have blankets anymore!

Lydia kept trying to knock over the empty box they came in so I laid it down and voila! Instant toy that entertained them most of the day!

Childrens Museum

Last night was monsoon night at the Children's Museum. Chad and his dad went to look at pieces of an original 1929 station wagon so Grandma Clayton took us to the museum. It was a lot of fun!

Here is Sophie ready to catch the bad guys and out them in "time-out" just like Uncle Mike and Uncle Brad.

She loved driving the firetruck like Uncle Jeff.
This floor was really cool. It had bugs that crawled around and we told her to stomp on them especially the scorpions. Then we read the directions and realized you were supposed to drag food over for them not kill them...whoops.
This screen was really cool I could have played with it all night. It records your silhouette and then plays it over and over again in one of the squares.

They had fun playing with trains.

And coloring. It was a fun night thanks mom!

Family Pictures

While we were in Idaho Chad's cousin Angie took some awesome pictures for us! I love them! Here are a few of my favorites...

This is how they really felt that day...so done

I am amazed at the pictures Angie got. Lydia was a emotional wreck and was broken out in a red spotty rash all over her body and Sophie was not listening at all. I was so sad thinking we didn't get any good pictures! But they turned out great! Thanks Angie your the best!!!
