March Madness

Its that time of year to fill out our brackets for basketball! Last year I lost horribly. I pretty much just guessed and wrote names in or just chose schools that I have heard of. This year its going to be interesting. Chad and I have a bet that whoever loses has to plan a date night. And if anyone knows Chad and I we do not like making decisions even if it is just what are we going to do tonight? We usually just end up watching tv. So here they are...
We had to level the playing field a bit since I know nothing about the teams and how good they are so our strategy this year is to pick the teams based only on the mascots we like. Its kind of funny because we ended up with the same team in the end winning. Dont let us down Pittsburgh!!

Wish me luck!! Hopefully I do well or I may be asking for date ideas.

Grateful

Chad and I made a goal when we got married that we would go to the temple once a month. So far we have, except after Sophie was born we missed a few. I was a nervouse new mother who just couldn't  imagine leaving my baby behind for 6 hours!! Needless to say my feelings have changed on that haha. We love going and plus it is like a monthly date for us. Sophie gets so excited when we go she says "mommy and daddy are going to the temple!!" I am sure it is because she knows she gets to be spoiled by grandparents all day.

I have been thinking a lot lately how lucky Chad and I are to have both our parents so close. They are always so willing to watch our girls if we want to go to the temple or if I need to go to school. We are so very grateful for them and all they do for us.
Somedays I wish we had a temple closer to us. But then I think about all of the alone time Chad and I would not get on those drives to phoenix and I am happy it is 2 hours away. I am so thankful to my Heavenly Father who loves us so much that he gave us temples so we can be an Eternal Family.

A little Obsessed

Sometimes I feel like I live in the show Dora.
Seriousley I sing the songs in my sleep. Sophie talks to me like Dora. For example I laid her down for a nap today. She did not want to go at all. She sat on her bed and cried and reached her hands out to me and said. "Now reach out, grab my hands, and pull pull pull! Louder! Pull pull pull!" And she is doing this crying if you can imagine. (she also does this in time outs). She has a backpack just like dora that she has to wear everywhere and if we forget it, she cries.

She randomly runs up to me puts her hand in my face and says "swiper no swiping!!!" Now I wouldnt mind living in Dora land so much if Sophie's backpack was as cool as Doras. Hers always has everything you need in it. Sophie's not so much. We had her backpack with us when the poop incident happened and it didnt matter how loud I sang "backpack backpack!" No plastic baggy was going to magically appear. And if your wondering no I did not try it.
I dont like how much tv Sophie wathes but since I work it is hard to keep her entertained and still get my work done and keep her quiet so no one hears her on the phone. She can also start shows on her own and pause them so she can go potty. Crazy I know. So on days I do not work I try to keep her away from TV.
But there have been positives of Dora. She has learned to count to 15. She now loves counting and counts everything she sees. So even though I sometimes go crazy in Dora Land at least she is learning.

Similarities

So I did not think that Lydia looked like Sophie. Until I found a picture of Sophie the same age.
This is Sophie
and this is Lydia

Crazy. Lydia just has bigger cheeks and less hair.

Broken promises and Poop

I promised myself I would NOT start a blog. After doing what everyone else was doing and getting into Myspace and Facebook I swore up and down that I would not get into blogging. Well now here we are...I kind of like a little word called Rationalization. Because starting a blog would be good because its kind of like a journal...or I am always on the computer since I work from home so this would be an easy way to keep track of all the little things my grls do right? Well it made me feel better so sorry me I am breaking my promise.

Oh man do I wish I was carrying a pair of these the other day. Sophie loves walks and I feel bad becasue a lot of the time we run out of time or life gets busy and the girls and I are stuck in the house sometimes for days. So lately I have been trying to be good about going for walks for Sophie's sake and my sanity's sake.
Sophie went potty and I changed Lydia's diaper and we headed to one of Sophie's favorite parks in our neighboorhood which takes us about 20 minutes to walk there. All was well. We played, we slid, we rocked on horses, Lydia happily ate her hands when all of the sudden Sophie says the dreaded "I have to go potty mom!"  We started back home and she said she didnt have to go anymore so we went back and of course she pooped her pants! At this point she whinning wanting me to carry her but I was holding Lydia and no way was I carrying her. I'm a mean mom and made walk home in it.
Then it happened...it fell out right in the middle of the sidewalk. Really? Seriously? Why me? I had nothing to pick it up with. There was no way I was going to just pick it up and carry it home. Could not kick it into a bush. First of all I was wearing flip flops and secondly it would have been in someones yard! horrible. Sophie keeps saying. "mom we need a towel" So I did what I really Really did not want to do....I walked away! I know so horrible but what could I have done?
No worries I did go back when it was dark to retrieve it. I am sure that looked wierd anyone who saw would be like "Why did that woman just pull over and pick up a piece of poop?" Trust me people a part of me did not want to go back but I just couldn't live with myself knowing I walked away.
Shes lucky I love her so much. But needless to say I will be much more prepared on our next walk...but I think I will avoid that street for awhile just in case anyone saw.
