Sophie's Kinder Graduation

Sophie graduated from kindergarten last night. She was so excited and nervous. All week she was reminding me what time we had to be there, what she needed to wear, what we needed to bring, and how she wanted her hair. Silly girl is such a worry wort.

Grandma and Grandpa Miller and Aunt Sarah were able to come! They sang a bunch of really cute songs. I think Sophie may our little actress. She really got into all the songs with her facial expressions.

And when she went to get her diploma she did a cute little pose. I guess they told them all to look at their family when they grabbed their diploma and we were behind her.

She did a great job and we are proud of our Miss Sophie!

Carnival Fun and Almost Camping

A few weeks ago Sophie's school had a fun carnival. Grandpa Clayton, Chad, and Easton went on the father son campout so the girls went to the carnival. Grandma Clayton came with us and they had a lot of fun little games to play. They especially loved riding the ponies.

There was also a fun clown there making animal balloons...

Sophie's teacher is such a trooper and nearly froze to death at the dump tank. But she made sure every one of her kids got to dunk her!

For Mother's Day weekend on Saturday we went almost camping. We made tin foil dinners and had yummy smores.

Easton enjoyed getting good and dirty...

The kids started to get cold and we needed to put out the fire so we let them all play in the van to keep warm. They were playing with the lights and pretending to drive and all that. When we finally got the fire out we all jumped in the van to go home when....it wouldn't start. Yep dead battery. So Chad and I jumped out and ran to the nearest hill. He climbed to the top and started making phone calls to my family to rescue us only......no one was answering! Seriously we called 6 separate phones....nothing. We really wanted to go almost camping Not real overnight camping and we had just used all of our water to put out the fire...not the best emergency preparedness. So onto Plan B.

We walked to the closest campsite to ask for help. The gentleman came out of his tent and.... hallelujah he had jumper cables! He also had a very large machete on his hip and informed us that he had loaded his shotgun when he heard us approaching because his wife and him were nervous when they heard us getting closer. Comforting haha. But he ended up being super nice and jumped our van so we could go home! I think I can speak for everyone that night that we are really glad we didn't have to sleep in the van.  

Happy Birthday Easton!

Last weekend we celebrated Easton's second birthday! Whenever we asked him what he wanted for his birthday he would immediatley say "A Puppy." He had the same answer for weeks. We were a bit worried we would have to get him one since it was so dang cute how much he wanted one, but Grandma Clayton saved the day and took him to Build a Bear.

He affectionately named it "puppy" of course. Right when we got home he found a little blanket for puppy and has been inseparable from puppy ever since.

We took Eleanor to church since Easton loves...okay is obsessed with Eleanor.

Both Grandma and Grandpa's came over for his birthday dinner!

Chad and I made a McQueen cake for Easton. 

He proceeded to open presents by ever so carefully tearing the wrapping in small pieces. Once he finally got it open though he was excited to get some fun books and a car pillow case from Grandma and Grandpa Clayton.

He absolutely loves his pillow. Not only doe he sleep with it but he is insistent he has it to watch a movie.

Grandma and Grandpa Miller pitched in with Chad and I to get him a Lightning McQueen car from Ridemakers (which is like build a bear but with cars!) He had to literally drag Easton out of the store crying in Downtown Disney and knew he would be thrilled to get one!

Even better was that he got to build it with Pop!

Happy Birthday little man!!!!



Sophie has had her 4 front teeth loose for quite awhile now. And Chad and I kept telling her that Grandpa Miller was a expert when it came to pulling out teeth. We kept teasing her that she should let him pull it when he came for Easton's birthday. She kept saying she wouldn't and wanted it to fall out on its own. When Grandpa came in Sunday he said "come here I want to see how much it wiggles" I immediately thought "I know that trick!!  and he wiggled it and flicked it hard and Sophie lost her tooth and didn't even realize it! We laughed and I said "I told you Grandpa was good!"

When we asked how much she thought the tooth fairy was going to bring her she said $10!!!! Holy smokes I though $1 was a fortune as a kid! She wasn't disappointed at all in the morning though when she found her tooth out of her tooth fairy bear and replaced with a dollar.

Happy Easter!

Since General Conference was the same weekend as Easter we spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa Clayton's house. When the kids woke up on Easter we said Happy Easter to them and they didn't even look around for baskets or anything. Then Sophie said "Hey Mom do you remember last Easter? We got like stuff in our baskets." Haha
We don't talk about the Easter bunny with them since we are usually reading the Easter story from the scriptures all week. I thought maybe we were bad parents since our kids weren't crazy excited over it all. But then Sophie the other day asked me straight up if the Easter Bunny was real. I didn't want to lie so I told her the truth and she responded "Well that makes sense because Easter isn't about that anyway it is about what Jesus did for us right?"  Proud parent moment!

But they were still excited when they realized that they did in fact have baskets with goodies for each of them!

We headed to Grandma and Grandpa Miller's for dinner and of course the big Easter egg hunt!

They got a lot of eggs and had fun running around with their cousins! Especially Easton and Jackson who are little best buds!

Family Fun

The weekend after Disneyland we took the kids to the U of A Book Fair. They had a lot of fun tents set up with stuff for the kids to do. We even saw Ronald McDonald do some magic tricks, a little circus show, and the kids each got a free book.

They loved the Habitat for Humanity tent where they got to decorate their own hard hats.

One night we took the kids bowling. We only did one game thinking they wouldn't last long, but they loved it so much they probably could have gone on forever.

Easton would get so excited for his turn and would bolt to get his ball, roll it down, and then run back as fast as he could to grab another ball.

Last Saturday we went to Grandma and Grandpa Clayton's so Chad and Grandpa could work on the trailer. So Grandma, the kids, and I headed to a cute little carnival close to their house. The kids loved playing games, riding the Bushwacker Express Train, and getting their faces painted.

On Monday night we dyed some Easter eggs and I am happy to report we had no blue children this year. They all stayed clean which was shocking.

At Sophie's school they have a tradition every year for the kindergartners where they have a phonogram  wedding to teach the kids that letters work together as a team just like a husband and wife. They drew names to see who was going to be the bride, groom, best man, maid of honor, etc. Sophie was totally excited that she was picked to be the bride and her best friend just happened to be the Maid of Honor.

And to top it off her friend Landon was picked to be the groom. (They have a secret handshake, Chad says we should be worried haha).

All the kids represented a letter and walked down the aisle together paired as phonograms. Sophie was Q and Landon was U together they were Mr. and Mrs. Qu. 

All the kids were dressed up and were very cute. Sophie loved that she got to wear my veil and thanks to an awesome lady in Grandma Clayton's ward for lending us the perfect dress!

They ended the ceremony by saying "May you all read Happily Ever After!"
