Photo Shoot and Other Things

Last week I did a photo shoot of the kids. Chad needed some updated ones for his desk at work. My dad let me use his awesome camera and the kids cooperated pretty well.

 

 

Well Lydia took some bribing and then she was being a cheeseball....



But I finally got a good one of her.

This one is my favorite of all of them but I didn't realize the sun was shining on the camera.

 

 

The second round they were done and I only got a few decent ones.

Easton is crawling around everywhere now. He gets into everything in the library at church and especially loves to empty the bucket of colored pencils.

 

 

Monday night we put the kids to bed and Sophie started yelling "He's doing something he has never done before!!!!" and sure enough he was trying to escape his crib.



 

 

He loves the girls and diligently waited for them to come back inside this morning. He looked like a little puppy watching out the window.



Cops and Rodders Show

We took Eleanor down to the Cops and Rodders show again this year.  Chad helped the girls make new pinewood Derby cars and they were very excited to race them. We also were in charge of our Ward service project at the same time so we divided and conquered. Chad ran the service project and I helped the girls with their race.

 

Chad worked on making their cars the correct weight and made sure their wheels moved smoothly in hopes they would race better this year. Apparently we can't build pinewood derby cars. Lydia's didn't even make it all the way down the track and Sophie's would stop right before the finish line. But they didn't seem to care. Sophie won Best Looking Car!!!

She was completely thrilled and displays her plaque proudly on her desk. Lydia refused to let me take a picture of her or her car.

Since Chad couldn't be there to vote the girls helped me vote for their favorite cars at the show. Eleanor of course and the rest were mostly purple and pink cars...hmm can't imagine why.

We picked Chad up after to join us and the girls had fun riding some pedal cars...

Lydia really did enjoy it despite her face in the picture. She apparently did not appreciate Chad taking a picture of her.

Easton enjoyed looking at all of the cars too and was such a little trooper among all the craziness. Although he always is. Thank you Mr. Easton!

Playing Visiting Teaching

The other day the girls were playing visiting teaching. I thought it was pretty cute. They each had their own "house" in different bedrooms. Lydia carried her baby in her car seat, grabbed an Ensign, and knocked on Sophie's door. when Sophie opened it she asked "Would you like to learn about Jesus?" And then walked in and proceeded to give her a lesson...

Then she went back home and Sophie came to her house. Right in the middle of her lesson Lydia exclaimed "Oh no I must go! I am so sorry thank you for coming!" and then ran off.  Sophie proceeded to chase her yelling "Hey I am not done with my lesson!"

Happy Halloween!

For Halloween this year the girls wanted to be Cinderella so I was going to make Easton Gus Gus. Then the day before Sophie decided she wanted to be a superhero instead since she got a cute cape from her friend. Thank you Grandma for saving us last minute with a super shirt.

Lydia was being a complete bum and we barely even got her into her costume. We practically dragged her kicking and screaming but we made it to the trunk or treat. It was actually pretty cold and Easton hung out and helped pass out candy with Dad and Grandma.

Sophie went around with Grandpa and told him they were done when her bucket was full. She didn't even go to all of the cars. On the way home I asked if they had fun and they both said yes. Which was a shock because Lydia said she wanted to go home the whole time and I had to hold her for most of it. They wanted to go tonight too since it was real Halloween but I think we have enough candy.

For preschool today the kids get to dress up and Sophie decided she wanted to be Fawn from Tinker Bell. Thank goodness we have a good variety in our dress up box.

Happy Birthday Sophie

Yesterday Sophie turned 5 years old. It is crazy to think we have a kid that old. She wanted a Princess Aurora party this year. And after last year (when only 2 people came and she was so sad) I was a little nervous. I found an idea for a "Make it Pink. no Blue" theme with the fairies who fight over the color of Aurora's dress in the movie.

I was going to take the easy way out and do cupcakes but Sophie was pretty particular on the details of the party and wanted a pink and blue cake that looked like the fairies had fought over. To our pleasant surprise ten kids came! She had an absolute blast. Chad and I realized how little our house is haha.

They played freeze dance and played with all of the pink and blue balloons.

 

 

We also did a piñata. 

 

 

Sophie was thrilled to have so many friends come and play. 

 

On Monday she got to go on her birthday date with Grandma Miller. She was so excited to go and took her time deciding exactly what she wanted. I forgot to take a picture of it but she got a fun Barbie with a oven and little cupcake stuff. Then she got to go to McDonalds for lunch or as my kids call it "Old McDonalds" She had a blast and hasn't stopped playing with the Barbie ever since.

On her actual birthday we kept it pretty simple. She got to pick what she wanted to eat and she opened her present from us. She has wanted this movie for a while. Grandma and Grandpa Clayton were able to come for dinner and have some cupcakes with us. and brought her a fun birthday card with one of her favorite princesses, Merida.

Happy Half Birthday Easton

Easton turned 6 months old on Friday! He has grown so much and wants to be a big kid. He gets up on all fours now and rocks. Its only a matter of time before he is crawling. Right now he just scoots backwards when he tries which frustrates him to death. We think he is going to crawl before he can sit up without falling over.

 

 

 

He loves to stand and will hold himself up to things if you put him there.

 

 

He is our little happy man...

 

He communicates in manly grunts. It just cracks us up because neither Chad or I can imitate it. It comes from so deep within him.

He absolutely loves baths and would probably sit in it all day...



He thinks Sophie is the most hilarious person ever and laughs and squeals at her silliness..

He also loves his Daddy and enjoyed some football with him the other night..

Disney on Ice!

 

After Chad's party on Saturday Grandma and Grandpa Clayton took us to Disney on Ice! The girls were so excited when Grandpa called and invited them. They immediately started deciding what they were going to wear...

 

 

They thought it was so cool to be able to leave the house in their dress up clothes. 

The show was amazing and the girls were in heaven. Lydia clapped every time they did a cool trick. She got really tired toward the end and kept asking me when Belle was coming. She was the last Princess to come on. She kept fighting to stay awake and in the middle of Be Our Guest she finally passed out. Like she was finally content because she saw her.

 

Sophie sat at the edge of her seat the whole time. And sighed with pure joy when each princess came on stage. She fell in love with the show and has asked when we are going back.  

 

 

Easton even loved the show. He stayed up the whole time. I thought for sure he would sleep. But he was too excited. Mom was holding him during The Little Mermaid and he was completely focused on the roof and kicking with excitement. We weren't sure what he was so excited over but then looked up and there were lights shining on the roof. He kept looking at the roof the rest of the night looking for the lights.
